History of Mind & Soul (formerly The Lay Clergy Institute)
The First Congregational United Church of Christ has a long history of active social justice and bringing challenging conversations and topics to the forefront in our congregation and larger community. One of the ways in which we do this is through our Mind & Soul Series (formerly called Lay Clergy) that have been a part of our history for nearly 50 years. These events are provided to at no charge, as a gift to the community, and provide opportunities to consider, discuss, and act on a wide array of philosophical and social issues.
As a congregation we believe God calls the church to speak truth to power, liberate the oppressed, care for the poor and comfort the afflicted. We hope you will consider visiting our community and sharing your life experience with us as we move forward on our spiritual journey toward understanding and social justice.
